fly me to the moon

right, so, eva.

it's a series that'll probably never quite leave my mind, if i'm being honest.

theres so many ways to interpret it, and so many small things i appriciate
every time i rewatch/see a clip. like, seriously, there's always gonna be somethin i missed, lol

something interesting is that the anime was originally just a shounen, but, around episode ~13 i believe,
anno got a book on mental illness or something, and just decided to change his whole anime i guess!! what a mad lad!!
(it was originally aired on kids show timeslot too, iirc.)

there's a million little facts like that i've picked up about it, via watching video essays, mostly.

but its seriously something that i could never get tired of hearing cool things like that about!
there's so many moving parts to why i enjoy it so much. like, does anno hate otaku culture? maybe! we don't know because his opinion changes on his own anime all the time!! what a mad lad!! dude named rei after sailor mars but also made the hospital scene to specifically critisize the way anime fans....act.

and i just love that about eva! there's so much to it, so many intricate details, and yet about 99% of them mean nothing.
which is genius, in a way.

for example, all that "christain symbolism" was just added to make it look spooky, none of it means anything.

which again, i love that. it's perfect for an anime like eva. fake pretentious becomes pretentious.

and hey, maybe i shouldnt be borderline obsessed with an anime that aired 25 years ago, but guess what?! this is the void, and it's my void, so i'm gonna scream about neon genesis evangelion all i want.

but along with being a borderline high-effort-troll anime, it also delivers on some really emotional moments...like...episode 24 :')

which may i add, the fact that an anime from 1995 has a bisexual protaganist (if i have to overexplain that to you, are u ok??) is also like,, really important.
